Trees are being taken down in our yard as I type! As I mentioned in a previous post, we raked over 100 bags of leaves this past year, braved the green pollen sludge all over our porches (I took a serious digger on the steps last year right before we closed on the house), and have discovered that our entire yard is root-bound. Thus, we decided that some of those trees must be removed. It’s a sad thing, I think, but our yard and house will be better for it. Plus, there will be plenty of trees left!
Here’s what it looks like now -
We’re having two large oaks (the closest and furthest trees in these pictures) removed, and are leaving the maple in the middle. It has beautiful yellow leaves in the fall!
It’s a little sad though, because there are very pretty tulips coming up around one of the oaks and we have to cut them to save them from being trampled. I’ll try to move them in the fall. Pretty colors!
We’re also removing lots of small trees in the back near the water garden, so we’ll have a clean slate and fewer leaves back there. Apparently our elderly neighbor curses those trees (which hang over her yard), so she’ll probably be happy too – and will love Matt even more than she does now (she has a big crush).
Speaking of whom, Matt stayed home because he wanted to supervise. Lucky Matt!
